Men's Indoor Track and Field Places 29th At ECAC Championships

Mike ChamberlinThree members of the Oswego State men’s indoor track and field team tallied eight points to finish in a three-way tie for 29th place at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Smith College in Northampton, Mass. on Friday and Saturday. Mike Chamberlin (So., Rochester, N.Y.) posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a school-record leap of 22 feet, 2 1/4 inches (6.76 m), bettering the mark of 22 feet, 1 1/4 inches he set two weeks ago. He also placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 45 feet, 9 inches (13.94 m).

AJ Carapella (Sr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) entered the ECAC Championships seeded 27th out of 27 competitors, but turned in a personal-best time of 22.91 seconds to finish ninth in the 200-meter dash.  Roger Trigo (Fr., Rome, N.Y.) finished in 13th place in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 8 1/2 inches (13.93 m).

Roger Trigo Receives All-SUNYAC Honors

Roger TrigoOswego State field athlete Roger Trigo has been named Second Team All-SUNYAC based on his performance at last weekend's SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Rome, N.Y. native registered a throw of 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches (14.31 m), which was just over an inch shorter than the first-place finisher, to capture second place honors. Indoor Track and Field Competes At SUNYAC Championships

Roger TrigoFreshman Roger Trigo (Rome, N.Y.) garnered second place honors in the shot put to lead the Oswego State indoor track and field team at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Geneva, N.Y. Trigo registered a throw of 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches (14.31 m), which was just over an inch shorter than the first-place finisher. The men’s squad finished in eighth place with 25 points, while the women’s squad took eighth place with seven points. The Geneseo men’s and Buffalo State women’s squads captured the championship trophy.

Mike Chamberlin (So., Rochester, N.Y.) turned in a fourth-place result in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 45 feet, 2 1/2 inches (13.78 m).

Indoor Track and Field Records Fall At Deneault Invitational

Megan BogganMike Chamberlin, AJ Carapella, and Megan Boggan each established new school records at the Deneault Memorial Invitational hosted by Cornell University on Saturday where the Oswego State indoor track and field competed in a final tune-up for next weekend’s SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Chamberlin (So., Rochester, N.Y.) set a new school record in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying leap of 22 feet, 1 1/2 inches (6.74 m) to finish in second place, besting the mark he set last year by just over one inch. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Megan Boggan (Sr., Canandaigua, N.Y.) broke the school record she set last year in the 300-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 43.73 seconds to place seventh.  AJ Carapella (Sr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) turned in a personal-best time of 7.21 seconds in the 60-meter dash to break the school record by .05 seconds, which was good for a 10th place finish.

Chamberlin Named SUNYAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Mike ChamberlinOswego State men's indoor track and field athlete Mike Chamberlin (So., Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 14, 2010. He posted the top result by a Division III athlete in the triple jump with an NCAA provisional-qualifying leap of 46 feet, 7.25 inches (14.20 m) to earn fifth place at the Robert Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell. Chamberlin, who also placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 6.75 inches (6.57 m), fell 2.25 inches of breaking the school record in the triple jump.

It marks the second time this season that he has been recognized as the conference athlete of the week as he was recognized on Feb. 1.
