Men's Lacrosse Falls To 16th-Ranked Nazareth 14-2
The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team trailed 16th-ranked Nazareth 2-1 after the first period, but the Golden Flyers responded with five straight goals en route to a 14-2 victory over the Lakers on Saturday afternoon in Rochester. Nick Zoyhofski and Bobby Pattridge recorded both Oswego State goals, while Nazareth’s Joe Jacobs-Ferderbar compiled three goals and one assist. The Lakers fell to 1-2 overall and the Golden Flyers improved to 2-1 on the season.

Nazareth held a two-goal lead in the first period before Bobby Pattridge (So., Henrietta, N.Y.) pulled Oswego State to within one goal after receiving a pass from Eric Zerrahn (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.) with 8:45 remaining in the frame.  The score stood at 2-1 before the Golden Flyers posted four goals in the final eight minutes of the first half.

Men's Lacrosse Posts First Win of Season Defeating SUNY Maritime 6-4
Sophomore Andy Lever (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded two goals and two assists to help lead the Oswego State men's lacrosse team to a 6-4 win over SUNY Maritime on Sunday afternoon in New York City. The Lakers scored the first three goals of the game, and never looked back en route to their first victory of the season improving to 1-1 overall. Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) also had a big game in goal making 13 saves, including four in the fourth period. The Privateers fell to 1-2 on the season.

Andy Lever got the Laker scoring started 3:14 into the game with an unassisted goal as Oswego State received two more goals from Bobby Pattridge (So., Henrietta, N.Y.) and Brad Teal (So., Williamsville, N.Y.) over the next four minutes.  SUNY Maritime struck with 14 seconds left on the clock in the first period to cut the Laker lead to 3-1, which was where the score stood at halftime as well.

Men's Lacrosse Falls To Farmingdale State In Season Opener 16-12
The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team kicked off its 2010 season with a 16-12 loss at Farmingdale State on Friday night. The Lakers trailed by one goal heading into the fourth quarter, but the Rams tallied three goals in two-minute span en route to the victory. Sophomore attack Andy Lever (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) paced the Oswego State offense with three goals and an assist, while Ryan White (Sr., Rockville Centre, N.Y.) added three assists as well. The contest was the season opener for both squads as the Lakers went to 0-1 and Farmingdale State moved to 1-0.

Senior Nick Zoyhofski (Hamburg, N.Y.) recorded the game’s first goal for Oswego State, but the Rams responded with five straight goals before heading into the second quarter with a 6-2 lead.  The Lakers countered by notching the first three goals of the second frame starting with a goal by senior captain Dan Scarazzo (Fairport, N.Y.) 1:14 into the stanza.  Oswego State tallied six more goals to knot the game at nine goals each at halftime.

Men's Lacrosse Looks To Carry 2009 Success Into 2010 Season

PlayerThe 2009 season was filled with success for the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team. The Lakers finished third in the always tough SUNY Athletic Conference with a 5-2 conference record en route to a record six Lakers receiving All-SUNYAC recognition, and Coach Witmer being named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year. Mike Recor was named USILA Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All New York State, while Mike Brewster was selected to play in the prestigious USILA North-South Game.

The 2010 season brings new challenges.  Oswego State has lost five of their top six scorers, including Brewster and Recor, who combined to score 90 points, leading the SUNYAC coaches to select the Lakers to finish fifth this spring.

Oswego State Men’s Lacrosse Team Set To Shave Heads For St. Baldrick’s Foundation On March 3

St. Baldrick'sMembers of the Oswego State men's lacrosse team will be shaving their heads for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, in the SUNY Oswego Campus Center on March 3 at 7 p.m. It is the fourth consecutive year that the team has participated in the fundraiser, having raised more than $43,000 over the past three years. This year the squad has set a goal of raising $18,000 and invites members of the community to join in the effort.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation provides grants to research institutions for the pursuit of cures and treatments.  Funds are also given to hundreds of local institutions that participate in national pediatric cancer clinical trials.
